Hi! I am Bonnie deGrood.
With a father who was a stage manager at the LA Civic Light Opera for over 20 years, and a mother who taught acting and speech, Bonnie was born into a theatrical family – a family that includes professional singers, dancers, and a classically trained pianist. Bonnie quickly realized her love of performing and the arts and started auditioning at a young age.
Bonnie started her career in dancing, learning hip-hop, ballet, and tap dance. She studied dance for a number of years in Los Angeles. In addition, to round out her abilities, she also studied singing and has been singing professionally for 25+ years, covering a variety of styles, venues, areas and projects. She has studied extensively with the Jeff Allen Vocal Arts Institute and the Francis Lederer’s Institute of Performing Arts, as well as Pierce College and Valley College focusing on a Music/Theater Arts major. She has received her degree in music.
Branching out, Bonnie has traveled the world touring with bands and performing on cruise ships. One of her biggest thrills was singing back up for Michael Bolton. She fronted top-40 bands, as well as original bands, which cover the gamut from R&B and ethereal to rock and 80’s-style pop. She is also a first call session vocalist for multi Emmy-Award winning composer R.C. Cates. All while being hard at work writing her own original material.
She performed in Osaka, Japan in the Universal Studios “Monster’s Rock and Roll Show” for the better part of a year. Other projects include CD/studio recordings, Disneyland, Candlelight Carolers, DAYSIX/Amnesty International Awards Show, Thousand Oaks Civics Arts Plaza, music videos and much more.
Recently, she has re-discovered the love of acting and is pursuing her talents with TV shows, commercials, film and the stage. Some of her TV credits include “The Suite Life on Deck”, “Love, Inc.”, “Kickin’ it” and “Jessie”. Film credits include “Penumbra” and “Speed Date”. Bonnie is currently studying acting at the BGB Studios in Los Angeles, and has completed a course with the Howard Fine Acting School, as well as Carolyn Barry Creative Entertainment, The Groundlings, and Killians Commercial Workshop.
Bonnie is diverse, talented, professional, energetic and hip. Her singing and dancing capabilities ensure consistent work and professionalism while her stage presence accompanies a rich vocal range.
Her passion for the arts shows when she’s on stage.
